You Have to Move Fast If You Want Top Talent

It’s no secret that hiring has been tough since the pandemic began—some would say it’s even evolved as time goes on. Specifically in Nebraska, we’re experiencing the lowest unemployment in the country, which makes the landscape even more difficult to navigate. Candidates have a lot of options right now with higher-than-normal wages. That’s fantastic for the candidates but can be a nightmare for employers. Most candidates are interviewing with multiple organizations at the same time and truly having their choices of offers to pick from, often looking at the full scope of an offer, not just the salary.

In this market, it’s imperative to move quickly on a candidate if you truly believe they are a fit. I am not saying to scrap your normal hiring process, but possibly condensing the process if you are typically doing multiple interviews. Those times between interviews is allowing your candidates to interview at multiple companies, and by the time you are ready to make an offer, another company likely already has.

I’ve seen it countless times in the last year and believe it’ll be the trend for a while. If there was ever a time to reevaluate your hiring process, this is it. Every company is hiring right now, and you need to stand out from the pack and stay in constant contact with your candidates.
