If you’re visiting a staffing firm for the first time, you probably have a million thoughts running through your head like, “Why am I here?”, “What does this place even do?”, or “They probably just have temporary jobs.”
I get it. The same thoughts went through my mind the first time I walked into a staffing agency. It’s no secret that staffing firms haven’t always had the best reputation. But it is 2019 and staffing firms are playing a very important role in today’s workforce. We are most definitely NOT here just for temporary jobs.
AurStaff’s mission is “to be the staffing provider and employer of choice by helping people and companies achieve their goals.” This means that we are here to connect the dots on what will be a good fit for you and your potential employers, depending on your experiences and preferences.
Working a Temporary Assignment
Employers need temporary workers throughout the year for various reasons. It may be their busy season and they know their production needs will pick up for the next few months. Maybe one of their employees is out on leave. In other cases they might have an emergency and are in need for help to finish a big order ASAP.
Why would a candidate want to work a temporary assignment? The most common scenarios are a candidate is either not currently working, they are waiting to hear back on a full-time position, or they work in a seasonal industry. Depending on the person, it might fit their schedule better to work only temporary assignments. In other cases, they might have a full-time job, but want to make some extra cash. Temporary assignments or “gigs” are a great way to earn some extra money!
Agreeing to a Match Hire®
A Match Hire® position is most commonly referred to as a “working interview”. Companies may choose this route if they have been experiencing a high turnover of employees and want to determine if the candidate is a good match before bringing them on full time. Another reason is maybe the candidate’s experience doesn’t quite match what the employer is looking for, but the candidate has a related skillset or might be trainable.
In a Match Hire® situation, candidates tend to have the mindset that this is their probationary period to prove themselves to the employer, but it is also YOUR time to decide if you want to work for that company or not. You can decide if it is the right company culture, if the work load is something you can handle, and if the work is something you even want to be doing.
If the stars align and the employer loves you as much as you love them, then they can bring you on to their payroll before the end of the Match Hire® agreement. It happens frequently! If it doesn’t, then you either rollover to their payroll at the end of your Match Hire® agreement or we start looking for a different opportunity for you. Some companies do truly like to stick to a contract. It’s a simple process for employers to take to get help finding exceptional candidates like you!
Why Would a Company Use a Staffing Firm for a Direct Hire Position?
Believe it or not, it’s hard to find great candidates. Recruiting the right candidates can be time consuming, especially with unemployment rates at an all-time low. People aren’t lining up outside businesses looking for jobs. Instead they are browsing new opportunities on numerous job boards online. Companies don’t have the time or resources to spend all day searching for their needle in a haystack.
That’s where we come into play. In our interview process, we will get to know what you want specifically out of your next job and find the company that satisfies those wants. Then, we will put a resume together for you, coach you for your interview, and handle the negotiation after the interview.
Are you thinking you can do all of this on your own? You’re right that you can, but we have built relationships and connections with companies and their HR teams that can help move your resume to the top of the pile. We can ensure your resume is highlighting the right skills and terms companies want to see from your past experiences. We can work out negotiations on pay, benefits, and schedules that will leave you satisfied in your next career.
