Before finding out if you love your job, let’s start with answering the question, “What is love?”
- An intense feeling of deep affection
- A person or thing that one loves
- A score of zero in tennis
I don’t think most of us have ever asked ourselves this question. In order to love your job by definition, you would need to feel deep affection towards your job. It certainly seems like this would be something tough to feel towards a job, when a large amount of us working population dislike going to work. But I know there are many people who say they love their job, so it is possible!
Why do people love their job?
- They enjoy their co-workers and/or team
- Company culture
- They are engaged and have a high interest in the work or cause
- Pay. I think some may love their jobs because of the pay, but is that really love?
- They feel they make an impact
- They feel appreciated or wanted in their role
These are just a few, but there could be many more reasons why someone may love their job. I bet you can think of a few I forgot. What would it take for you to love your job?
How do you find a job you love?
First I think you need to figure out what you really enjoy doing. Then you need to find a position you will be engaged in and have a strong interest in. Finding the right co-workers and/or team can be a little tricky though. I think if you make sure you find a company that has a good culture, the likelihood of there being many strong teams within that organization is better. I also feel it is up to you to embrace your situation and make the most of it and then, you may end up loving your job. If you believe it will happen, you can do it!
Do people really love their job?
The short answer is yes. People really do love their jobs! I’ve met people and it’s clear you can tell they love what they do. If you do not feel this love towards your job, you need to know that you can make a change and should go for it. When you love your job and what you do, it will make waking up every day a lot easier. Your professional and personal life will be so much more fulfilling.
What’s love got to do with it?
Basically I was just looking for a reason to reference Tina Turner! Great song from the 80’s. But I think love has a lot to do with it. If you love what you do, your work life will be so much more enjoyable. So get out there and find that job you will LOVE. It is possible and you can thank me later for letting you know it is really out there.
